Description
A brief history of the Vantage GT3
Developed by Aston Martin Racing and Prodrive as the successor to the DBRS9, the V12 Vantage GT3 began testing in 2011 and entered competition in 2012. It brought the compact Vantage body together with a naturally aspirated 6.0 litre V12, combining Aston Martin’s established endurance racing experience with the demands of international customer GT3 competition. Its bonded aluminium structure, lightweight bodywork and carefully positioned engine provided the basis for a balanced racing car. A six speed Xtrac sequential transmission with paddle shift, racing ABS and traction control complemented the V12 powertrain. The factory specification quoted more than 600 bhp and 700 Nm, with actual competition output governed by the applicable regulations and Balance of Performance.
The model became a mainstay of British GT and international endurance racing. By September 2018, Aston Martin recorded 22 British GT victories, 63 podium finishes and three drivers’ championships for the V12 Vantage GT3. Its place in the marque’s front line customer programme was subsequently taken by the next generation Vantage GT3 for 2019, giving the naturally aspirated V12 car a distinct identity within Aston Martin’s racing lineage. Production was limited to 46 cars in the original series, according to Aston Martin’s 2020 retrospective. A further newly built V12 Vantage GT3 was included in the Vantage Legacy Collection announced that year, bringing the documented count to 47 including that special commission.
The car offered
Chassis AMRVANTAGEGT3-018 is an original Aston Martin Racing / Prodrive V12 Vantage GT3 with a competition history spanning British GT, the Blancpain Endurance Series and IMSA GT Daytona. Its record includes the 2013 Britcar 1000 km victory at Silverstone and a top ten overall finish in the 2014 Spa 24 Hours, followed by American appearances with TRG-AMR. Chassis 018 is recorded in competition from 2013; its exact year of manufacture remains to be confirmed from the factory build record or original delivery paperwork.
Presented today in a striking Spider-Man tribute livery and actively campaigned in the 2026 GT3 Revival Series, it offers the combination of period international history and recent racing use. The car wears a recreated livery inspired by the 2014 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 TRG-AMR Aston Martin. This is a tribute presentation and is not represented as chassis 018’s original period livery. Its appeal lies in the visual connection to TRG-AMR’s period Aston Martin programme, alongside this chassis’s separately documented racing history (see below).
Chassis 018 is sold in 100% race-ready condition with all date-related items current and the engine having just 10 hours running.
With its naturally aspirated V12, Spa top ten result and competition history on both sides of the Atlantic, chassis 018 offers a substantial sporting identity. Its combination of British and international endurance provenance, TRG-AMR association and reported recent racing use makes it an appealing proposition for the various recent historic GT3 championships.
History
Period competition history
The early record of chassis 018 is associated with Mark Poole and Richard Abra, racing under the Barwell Motorsport and MP Motorsport banners. The supplied dossier identifies the car as the overall winner of the Britcar 1000 km at Silverstone on 22 September 2013. The chassis archive also attributes that victory to 018, and a contemporary race report describes the winning Barwell prepared car as a Vantage GT3. The organiser’s retrospective list uses a different model designation, addressed in the research notes.¹
In 2014, the car competed as number 38 for MP Motorsport AMR. Its European programme combined British GT with the Blancpain Endurance Series, with Joe Osborne joining Poole and Abra for the endurance races. The archive records fourth overall in the first British GT race at Snetterton and appearances at Monza, Silverstone and Paul Ricard.
The outstanding international result came at the Spa 24 Hours on 26–27 July 2014. Joined by Aston Martin works driver Darren Turner, Poole, Abra and Osborne finished tenth overall and fourth in Pro-Am. The official classification records 517 laps, making this the highest placed Aston Martin in the final results. This result remains a central feature of the car’s competition provenance.
Later in 2014, chassis 018 appeared in the United States as TRG-AMR’s number 007. Its recorded IMSA outings include Virginia International Raceway and Circuit of the Americas, followed by Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta with James Davison, Christina Nielsen and David Block.
The archive also links 018 to the 2016 Rolex 24 at Daytona, with James Davison, Santiago Creel, Antonio Pérez, Ricardo Pérez de Lara and Lars Viljoen. The car was classified 44th overall after retirement. Further entries are recorded at Laguna Seca and Circuit of the Americas in 2016, and Lime Rock in 2017. These chassis attributions come from the public racing archive and should be read alongside the car’s own documentation.
